Going solar in Melbourne: what to know

Five networks across Melbourne

Melbourne is split between five electricity networks: CitiPower in the inner city, Jemena in the north-west, United Energy in the south-east, AusNet Services in the east and north-east, and Powercor in the west. Your network sets how much solar you can export and approves the connection, and we apply to it for you.

Sizing for Melbourne winters

Melbourne gets less winter sun than Sydney or Brisbane, so system size matters. Panels still produce on cloudy days, just less, and we size your system from your bills over a full year, not a single sunny day.

Victorian help on top

Eligible Victorian homes can get up to $1,400 off solar panels through the Solar Homes program, with the option of an interest-free loan for the same amount. Both federal discounts apply too.

Both federal discounts come off your quote upfront, and we lodge the paperwork for you. Estimates only: your exact discount is shown on your quote.

Solar in Melbourne: your questions

More answers in our full FAQ, or call us on 1300 252 090.

We also install in Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra.

Is solar worth it in Melbourne?

For most homes, yes. Melbourne gets less winter sun than the northern capitals, but panels produce all year, and using your own solar instead of buying power is where the savings come from. We size your system from your bills and show you the expected output before you decide.

Can I get the Solar Homes rebate?

Eligible homes can get up to $1,400 off solar panels. From 1 July 2026, the combined household income limit is $150,000 a year and the property must be valued under $3 million. Solar Victoria sets the rules, and we'll tell you in your quote whether it applies.

Which services do you offer in Melbourne?

Residential solar, home batteries, EV chargers and solar panel cleaning. Our meter, Level 2 electrical and bird mesh services are currently available in NSW and Queensland only.

How long does installation take?

Most home installations take a single day. Before that, we apply to your electricity network for connection approval, which can add a few weeks before your system is fully switched on.
